During World War II, the pressing need to counter massive tank formations gave rise to two main doctrines:
Allied (US) Doctrine: Forming Tank Destroyer Battalions using light, open, and extremely fast tracked vehicles such as the M18 Hellcat. Their tactic was "search, hit, and destroy" using hit-and-run tactics.

The mobility and firepower of modern tanks ultimately made specialized gun-mounted tank destroyers irrelevant and inefficient for operational purposes for armed forces.
3. Cold War to Modern Era: The Birth of the ATGM (1960s–Present)
To counter the massive armored formations of the Cold War, global militaries introduced the ATGM (Anti-Tank Guided Missile). These specialized vehicles no longer relied on large, heavy cannons, but instead relied on guided missiles.
Advantages: Allows light armored vehicles to disable advanced tanks from very long ranges, often beyond the firing range of enemy tank guns. Modern Examples: Modern vehicles such as the missile-equipped Marder (Germany), the M1134 Stryker ATGM (USA), and modern amphibious vehicles from Russia and China have adopted many fast and easily deployed wheeled platforms.

4. Current and Future Warfare (2020s)
In contemporary conflicts (including the war in Ukraine), the traditional role of the tank destroyer is evolving again. The threat comes not only from tanks, but also from deadly drones (UAVs).

MIG Alley - the first large-scale jet fighter dogfights in history
"MiG Alley" was the nickname given by UN fighter pilots (primarily the United States) to the airspace over northwestern North Korea during the Korean War (1950–1953). This area, located along the Yalu River bordering China, became the first large-scale jet-versus-jet air combat zone in military history.
"MIG Alley" is named after the Soviet Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 jet aircraft, which frequently operated in the area from air bases in Manchuria, China.
This location is famous for fierce dogfights between Communist MiG-15s (North Korean, Chinese, and disguised Soviet pilots) and U.S. Air Force F-86 Sabres.
MiG Alley marked the end of the propeller-driven aircraft era and the beginning of jet dominance in aerial combat.
The MiG pilots had a geographic advantage because they could quickly escape to a "safe zone" in Chinese airspace across the Yalu River, where American pilots were prohibited from pursuing to avoid open warfare with China or the Soviet Union.
Although the MiG-15s often outnumbered them, American pilots in F-86 Sabres achieved air superiority due to superior training, with a claimed victory ratio of approximately 8:1 to 10:1.

The Tet Offensive
The Tet Offensive was one of the most decisive military campaigns of the Vietnam War, launched on January 30, 1968.
Here is a brief history of the event: Background and Surprise: North Vietnamese (PAVN) and Viet Cong forces launched a surprise attack during the Lunar New Year (Tet) celebrations, a period traditionally agreed upon as a ceasefire. They simultaneously attacked more than 100 cities and towns across South Vietnam. Strategic Objectives: North Vietnamese leaders, including Vo Nguyen Giap, hoped this massive attack would spark a popular uprising in the South and lead to the collapse of the US-backed South Vietnamese government.
Major Battles: One of the most surprising moments was when Viet Cong forces successfully penetrated and occupied the US Embassy in Saigon for six hours. Another fierce battle took place in Hue, where communist forces held the city for weeks before being repulsed by US Marines in bloody urban combat.
Results: Militarily: The offensive failed to achieve its primary objectives. US and South Vietnamese forces successfully recaptured lost territory and inflicted heavy losses on the Viet Cong, who were virtually destroyed as an effective fighting force.
Politically: The offensive gave the North an advantage. Television footage of the battle shocked the American public, who had previously been told the war was nearly won. This sparked massive anti-war protests and led President Lyndon B. Johnson to decide not to run for reelection.

The Zumwalt-class destroyers are the most advanced and expensive warships ever built by the United States, specifically for destroyers.

"Lady Death" - Lyudmila Pavlichenko
Lyudmila Pavlichenko (1916–1974) was a Soviet sniper known as the deadliest female sniper in history.
